RICHMOND, VA — Today, the Virginia House Democrats passed legislation to establish a Prescription Drug Affordability Board to lower medicine drug costs and protect Virginians from unaffordable price hikes. The bill creates an independent board to review the cost of certain high-priced prescription drugs sold in Virginia and determine whether they pose affordability challenges for patients and the health care system.
“Lowering medicine costs is a top priority for House Democrats,” said Del. Karrie K. Delaney. “This bill does just that by creating an efficient, transparent process to identify when drug costs are unreasonable and take action to protect Virginians. It’s about accountability, affordability, and making sure lifesaving medicine is within reach.”
