RICHMOND, Va.—Today, the Virginia House Democratic Caucus met to decide leadership that will guide them through the 2022-2023 term. As a result, the following delegates were elected to lead the Caucus in their new roles:
Democratic Leader – Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn (HD-41)
Caucus Chair – Delegate Charniele Herring (HD-46)
“I am grateful to my colleagues for once again placing their faith in me and electing me Democratic Leader,” said Speaker Filler-Corn. “I have been proud to lead our caucus through both triumphs and challenges, and I will continue to serve to the best of my ability in the term ahead. The House Democratic Caucus will continue to strive toward a better Virginia for all, and as Leader, I will fight to ensure those in power put the needs of Virginians first and hold them accountable if and when they fail to do so.”
“Although this month’s election results were not what we hoped for, the Caucus’ mission of fighting for Virginia families and working people across the Commonwealth stands unchanged,” said Chair Herring. “There is still much work that needs to be done and we will work together to move Virginia forward.”
“Under the leadership of Eileen Filler-Corn and Charniele Herring, the House of Delegates and the Democratic Caucus saw tremendous progress on a multitude of issues that impact the lives of all Virginians,” said House Democratic Caucus Executive Director Jaime Reimers. “I look forward to safeguarding that progress with these inspiring women and holding the Republicans accountable, particularly as we look ahead to new maps and a possible 2022 Special Election.”
