Democrats running in record number of House Districts
Richmond – On Tuesday, the Virginia House Democratic Caucus congratulated its 2019 Democratic nominees to the Virginia House of Delegates. There are a record number of Democratic candidates running for the House of Delegates, signifying that Virginia Democrats are determined to continue the Blue Wave they started in 2017, when Democrats flipped 15 seats in the House of Delegates. This year, Democrats are poised to flip the House from Republican control for the first time in two decades.
House Democratic Leader Eileen Filler-Corn (D-Fairfax) congratulated the Democratic nominees, saying, “We are thrilled to present our 2019 Democratic nominees for the House of Delegates! We have an amazing pool of candidates, with diverse professional and personal backgrounds. These are the individuals who will flip the House of Delegates blue this November for the first time in two decades.”
House Democratic Caucus Chair Charniele Herring (D-Alexandria) said, “I sincerely appreciate all of the Democratic candidates who have poured their time, energy, and passion into winning a majority in the House of Delegates this year. To all of the candidates who ran and are congratulating another nominee tonight: thank you. To our new Democratic nominees, thank you, and I can’t wait to serve with you once we flip the House this November!”
