RICHMOND, Va.—Today, Delegate Schuyler Van Valkenburg (HD-72) hosted a House Caucus press conference at Hobnob in Richmond, highlighting how RebuildVA grants are revitalizing small businesses in the Richmond area. He announced that 235 Richmond businesses are receiving $10.7 million in RebuildVA grants.
“Small businesses like Hobnob are the cornerstone of our communities, bringing jobs while also adding personality and vitality to our neighborhoods,” said Del. Van Valkenburg. “We are thrilled that thanks to the American Rescue Plan, we can fully fund the RebuildVA program, which will invest in our local economies.”
In House District 72 alone, about $1.3 Million in RebuildVA funding is being granted to 30 businesses. The press conference was held in Hobnob, a family-run restaurant in Del. Van Valkenburg’s district that received a RebuildVA grant this year.
During the Generally Assembly’s Special Session II, House Democrats allocated $250 million of federal American Recuse Plan relief to fully fund the Rebuild VA program, to reinvest in our economy and to take strides to build a better Virginia.
“We also invested even more in our small businesses through the Rebuild Virginia Program. We launched Rebuild Virginia a year ago to give grants to small businesses and non-profits that were affected by the pandemic,” said Governor Ralph Northam, who also attended the press conference.
