RICHMOND, VA – Today, Speaker-designee Don Scott announced he has selected Delegate Karrie Delaney to chair the House Transportation Committee in the 2024 General Assembly Session. Delegate Delaney has served in the House of Delegates since 2017 and is a current member of the committee.
“I am pleased to name Delegate Delaney Chairwoman of the Transportation Committee. From Northern Virginia to Hampton Roads to Southwest Virginia, and all points in between, there is a clear need to revitalize our infrastructure. With the recent investments into our state by the Biden Administration and our Federal Delegation, it is all too important that we have an experienced legislator like Delegate Delaney to help guide our future policy decisions. I look forward to seeing the work of the committee under her leadership,” said Speaker-designee Don Scott.
Delegate Karrie Delaney said, “I am grateful for Speaker-designee Scott’s and the Commonwealth’s trust to lead the House Transportation Committee. I look forward to working with my colleagues to pave the way in modernizing our infrastructure and ensuring that all Virginians can easily work, travel, and do business across every corner of our beautiful Commonwealth.”
Delaney’s position as Transportation Committee Chair will become effective upon Scott’s election as Speaker by the House of Delegates, after the members take their oaths of office on the first day of Session, January 10, 2024.
