Richmond, VA – Today, Speaker-designee Don Scott announced he has selected Delegate Candi Mundon King to chair the House Committee on Counties, Cities and Towns in the 2024 General Assembly Session. Delegate Mundon King will be the first Black person and Black woman to chair the Committee.
Speaker-designee Don Scott said, “Delegate Mundon King has been a force since she stepped foot on the House Floor. She has always been a fierce advocate for the rights and freedoms of all Virginians and I am proud to name her as Chairwoman of the Counties, Cities and Towns committee to continue to do this work on behalf of the people of the Commonwealth.”
“I am extremely humbled to be selected by Speaker-designee Scott to lead the Counties, Cities and Towns Committee. My catalyst for running for the House of Delegates was my passion for community. I look forward to working with the committee to ensure communities across the Commonwealth are great places to live, work and raise families today and for generations to come,” said Delegate Candi Mundon King.

All Committee Chair appointments will become effective upon Scott’s election as Speaker by the House of Delegates, after the members take their oaths of office on the first day of Session, January 10, 2024.
