HB29 passes House 81-18; HB30 passes 75-24
RICHMOND, VA – Following the passage of the Budget by the Virginia House of Delegates, the House Democratic Caucus released the following statement.
“Today was a momentous day for the Commonwealth as we voted to put forth a fiscally responsible budget that prioritizes funding public education and our teachers, access to higher education, affordable healthcare, putting money back in the pockets of hardworking Virginians, and, above all else, keeping Virginia moving forward.
As you see in the House-introduced budget, we will continue to put forth and work on policies that will ensure that every Virginian has the best opportunity to live, work, and raise a family. We believe in legislation, and ultimately a budget, that will invest in our schools, grow our economy, and ensure that every Virginian can work with dignity.”
The two budget bills that were considered today, HB29 and HB30, passed the House with bipartisan support with 81 and 75 votes respectively. The bills now head to the Senate before entering conference in the coming weeks.
