RICHMOND, VA –Last night, the Governor issued sweeping vetoes to 157 bipartisan bills, along with 205 amendments and 8 line-item vetoes to the bipartisan budget—rejecting commonsense solutions that would have delivered meaningful relief to Virginia’s families.
“We need a governor who will put Virginians first—not cave to Trump and Musk,” said Speaker Don Scott. “But once again, Republicans refuse to stand up for Virginians, blocking critical legislation that lowers prescription drug costs, raises wages, makes neighborhoods safer, and increases access to health care.”
“These vetoes don’t just block legislation; they block progress,” said Leader Charniele Herring. “Virginians need leadership that meets the moment, not partisan posturing that leaves families behind.”
“These vetoes are an insult to working people throughout Virginia who are feeling immense economic stress,” said Chair Kathy Tran. “Virginians deserve leaders who will stand up for them by uplifting working families, investing in our public education system, and building strong and safe communities.”
The General Assembly has one week to review each of the Governor’s actions ahead of their reconvene session on April 2, when they will vote on each amendment.
