Democrats field nominees in all 100 House districts for the first time in recent history
RICHMOND, VA – For the first time in recent history, the Virginia House Democratic Caucus has achieved a major milestone: nominating candidates in all 100 House of Delegates districts across the Commonwealth. This historic achievement reflects the unity, energy, and momentum behind Virginia Democrats heading into the 2025 elections—while Republicans have only managed to field 83 candidates statewide.
In every corner of the state, Democrats are united by a shared mission: protecting fundamental freedoms, lowering costs for working families, investing in public schools, and building an economy that works for everyone.
“This slate reflects our all-in strategy — competing everywhere, building partnerships, and protecting what matters most to Virginians,” said Speaker Don Scott. “We didn’t get here alone. This milestone is thanks to the organizers, community leaders, and grassroots advocates—especially in rural communities—who have worked tirelessly to recruit candidates, register voters, and push for progress.”
“This is a historic moment for Virginia Democrats and a testament to the momentum and energy we’re seeing across the Commonwealth,” said Del. Dan Helmer, Campaigns Chair. “While Republicans hide from their constituents and refuse to answer for their extreme agenda, Democrats are stepping up to lead. They’re in every community, knocking on doors, answering the tough questions, and showing they’re ready to deliver on day one. And come November, we’re going to see that momentum reflected at the ballot box.”
