RICHMOND, VA — Today, House Democrats passed HB 1, legislation to raise Virginia’s minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2028, delivering on their commitment to build an Affordable Virginia where working people can live and thrive.
“Raising the minimum wage is about people,” said Delegate Jeion Ward. “Virginians are working full-time, even double shifts, and still struggling to keep the lights on. Raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2028 isn’t just an economic necessity – it’s a moral obligation. No one who works full-time in Virginia should struggle to afford their basic needs.”
House Democrats say HB 1 delivers a raise for working Virginians and moves the Commonwealth closer to an economy where hard work pays off.
