RICHMOND, VA — Today, the Virginia House Democratic Caucus leadership proudly endorsed Margaret Franklin for Delegate in the special election for House District 23.
Since 2019, Margaret Franklin has served the Woodbridge District on the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, where she has focused on strengthening public schools, expanding affordable housing, lowering the tax rate, and delivering high-quality services for residents. Her work in local government has reinforced the importance of strong coordination between state and local leaders — and the real progress that’s possible for families when Richmond and local communities are aligned.
“Margaret Franklin brings real governing experience to this race,” said Speaker Don Scott. “Her leadership on the Prince William Board of County Supervisors shows she knows how to make tough decisions, manage resources responsibly, and deliver results for her community. That experience will matter in the House of Delegates, and it’s why she’ll be an effective voice for Prince William and Stafford families.”
“Margaret Franklin understands the day-to-day challenges facing families in House District 23,” said Leader Charniele Herring. “Her experience in local government gives her a practical understanding of how state policy impacts schools, housing, and services in Prince William and Stafford. She will bring that perspective to Richmond and fight for solutions that work for her district.”
“Margaret Franklin’s record reflects a deep commitment to delivering results at the local level,” said Chair Kathy Tran. “From strengthening schools to expanding opportunity, she has shown she knows how to turn policy into real outcomes for Prince William and Stafford families. Margaret will be a strong advocate for House District 23 in Richmond.”
“I’m honored to have the support of the Virginia House Democratic Caucus,” said Margaret Franklin, Democratic nominee for HD-23. “As a local elected official, I’ve seen firsthand how decisions made close to home impact families every day. I look forward to bringing that experience to Richmond and working collaboratively to ensure all voices and communities are heard and represented.”
The special election for House District 23 is scheduled for January 13, 2026.
