RICHMOND, Va. — Yesterday, Virginia House Republicans tried to stall the Special Session budget proceedings by proposing unnecessary amendments.
Virginia Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn, House Democratic Majority Leader Charniele Herring, and House Democratic Caucus Chair Rip Sullivan released the following statement in response:
“The budget stands as one of the strongest indicators of our values, which is why House Democrats prioritized investing American Rescue Plan funds into rebuilding small businesses, accelerating broadband expansion, and enhancing school infrastructure to protect our students.
“House Republicans on the other hand have shown their true colors by proposing amendments aimed at revoking tenant protections, blocking funds for increased voter access, and limiting flexibility in community-based crime reduction efforts.”
