RICHMOND, VA – Today, Speaker-designee Don Scott announced he has selected Delegate Cliff Hayes to chair the House Committee on Communications, Technology and Innovation in the 2024 General Assembly Session. Delegate Hayes previously chaired the Committee in the 2020 and 2021 Legislative Sessions. He has served in the House of Delegates since 2016.
Speaker-designee Don Scott said, “I am excited to name Delegate Hayes as Chairman of Communications, Technology, and Innovation. His commitment to the people of the Commonwealth will be well reflected in his role as Chair. I look forward to seeing the great work of the committee as Delegate Hayes takes back the reins.”
“I’m excited about another opportunity to chair Communications, Technology, and Innovation – the intersection where digital equity, algorithmic justice, and bandwidth help facilitate the full participation in our schools, economy, and democracy,” said Delegate Cliff Hayes.
Hayes’ position as Chairman of the committee on Communications, Technology and Innovation will become effective upon Scott’s election as Speaker by the House of Delegates, after the members take their oaths of office on the first day of Session, January 10, 2024.
